Start Here

If you are new, welcome. I am glad you found this.

My name is Erika Hanafin Austria. I am a founder, startup advisor, co-founder of NeonID, former CEO of HeyMama, and a woman who has spent nearly two decades building companies, leading teams through five acquisitions, and helping women raise millions in funding. I have also spent the last several years rebuilding my own life. Navigating divorce. Co-parenting. Blending a family with four boys. Pregnancy at 40. Miscarriage. Early perimenopause. And the identity shifts that came with every single one of those chapters.

MOMumental Reinvention is where those two worlds meet.

This is a space for women who are in the middle of becoming someone new. Not because they chose a dramatic reinvention, but because life changed and they are trying to figure out who they are on the other side of it. Motherhood, divorce, career shifts, blended families, grief, ambition, healing. The chapters that do not come with a manual.

This is not a self-help newsletter. It is not coaching. And it is not about fixing yourself.

It is about learning how to move forward with clarity and self-trust when life asks you to become someone new. I call that the MOMumental Becoming, and it is the thread that runs through everything I write here.

What You Will Find Here

Essays that tell the truth without being performative. Language for the moments you have not had words for yet. Insight for identity shifts that do not come with instructions. Grounded reflections on motherhood, leadership, healing, ambition, and self-trust. Writing that respects your intelligence and your emotional reality.

I write from lived experience, not theory. And I write from nearly twenty years of building alongside extraordinary women, so the perspective here is not just personal. It is strategic. I think about identity the way I think about companies: the version that got you here probably is not the version that takes you where you are going next. That is not failure. That is evolution.

Where to Begin

Start with the essay that speaks to the chapter you are in:

On identity and reinvention:The Quiet Work of Becoming Someone New . Why reinvention is rarely a single moment, and what it actually looks like from the inside.

On ambition and wanting more:You Can Want More Without Being Ungrateful . For the woman who feels guilty about outgrowing a life she worked hard to build.

On letting go of old versions of yourself:The Version of Me I Didn’t Go Back To . What happens when you realize the woman you used to be is not someone you want to return to.

On boundaries and privacy during transformation:Not Everything That Matters Is Meant to Be Shared . On protecting the sacred parts of your becoming.

On starting over from a position of strength:What No One Tells You About Starting Over When You’re Already Successful . On pregnancy, power, grief, and the courage it takes to begin again when you already have something to lose.

One More Thing

I am building this into something much larger. A media, advisory, and community ecosystem for women in reinvention. MOMumental Reinvention is the editorial engine. MOMumental Moments™ is the movement. NeonID is the brand science. And erikahanafin.com is home base.

But it all starts here. With the writing. With the truth. With women who are brave enough to become again.

The MOMumental Becoming is not loud. It is not linear. And it does not happen all at once. But it is happening. And you are in the right place for it.

MOMumentally,

Erika
